SAE Faculty Advisors

You can make a difference!

An actively engaged SAE Faculty Advisor contributes greatly to the student's SAE experience. In addition to offering invaluable guidance and advice, you provide the continuity needed in a Collegiate Chapter. Student membership is fluid and officers change annually, so the Faculty Advisor is the critical link maximizing the value your students receive.

Your Role as an SAE Faculty Advisor

We appreciate your dedication to SAE and your students! We rely on you to guide your Collegiate Chapter and/or CDS team and act as a liaison with your university and SAE International.

Primary Activities for Faculty Advisors

• Update your Advisor and Student Officer information annually
• Educate students about the benefits of SAE while in college and throughout their career
• Connect students with the professional Section that supports your Collegiate Chapter
• Encourage student leaders to:
  • Elect student officers and submit them to SAE each summer
  • Utilize the Operations Manual
  • Invite a speaker from the Industrial Lecture Series to campus
• Encourage all students to:
  • Join or renew their membership
  • Utilize the SAE Career Center & Mentor Center
  • Apply for awards, scholarships, Doctoral loans & internships
  • Transfer to professional membership when they graduate
