CAM system gets new features

Mastercam Lathe's quick roughing toolpath. |
CNC Software, Inc. has just released Version 8.1 of its Mastercam series software. The new version features all-new verification, automatic stock recognition in Mastercam Lathe, and full associativity in Mastercam Wire.
This version incorporates a new solid-model verifier from LightWork Design LTD in all its modules. The new verification is designed to bring users added speed and flexibility in testing part programs. Operators can also import any shape stock when verifying parts, including a model from a previous session.
The new release brings a powerful new stock-recognition feature to the Lathe module. Each turning operation reviews any prior operations and generates a toolpath only for the actual as-cut stock that is left. For example, if an operator center-drills then faces a part, the software will only create a facing operation for the area left after the drill cycle is complete. "Mastercam Lathe's stock recognition creates highly efficient toolpaths and helps eliminate the guesswork of what stock is left on your part," said CNC Software Vice President Mark Summers.

Mastercal Mill includes new features such as multisurface associativity, high-speed machining, and integrated feed rate optimization. |
The new wire module in Version 8.1 features full associativity, meaning that geometry and wire path are linked. When the model tooling information is changed, an updated wire path can be generated with a single mouse click. The wire release also features solid-model verification and a quick, shaded verify that provides immediate feedback when creating wire paths.
Mastercam Mill is also fully associative. The software delivers CAD/CAM tools designed specifically for high-speed machining of parts with multiple surfaces. High-speed machining is an alternate machining method combining high feed rates with high spindle speeds, specific tools, and specific tool motion. This method of machining can deliver quick turnaround and a good finish. The goal of most high-speed machining toolpaths is smooth motion with very few sharp corners, which allows for fast, shallow cuts. Mastercam offers high-speed functions for shops that program with multiple surfaces including variable z-level cuts, smooth tool motion on and off the part, and continuous z-level looping.

Mastercam now features MachineWorks technology, which provides fast, accurate CNC stimulation, verification, and analysis. |
The software also includes integrated "smart feed rate optimization." By using feed rate optimization, a job can be run at various feed rates, saving time, tool wear, and money.
CNC Software has also recently announced that it will integrate MachineWorks, a component simulation/verification technology, into its Mastercam software. MachineWorks is capable of accurately simulating the most complex operations in a True Solid format. CNC Software has licensed the product from LightWork Design so that it can embed MachineWorks technology in Mastercam.

Fourth generation TTPtools for by-wire systems
TTTech has announced the release of its integrated Time-Triggered software development environment, TTPtools. The product enables the professional implementation of the Time-Triggered architecture based on Time-Triggered Protocol, the automotive and aerospace by-wire communication standard. TTP communication architecture has been recognized as the emerging standard platform for safe and fault-tolerant realtime systems. This system approach reduces design and test complexity, maintenance, time to market, and cost while achieving higher levels of safety and functionality for by-wire applications.
Battery data logging software
Christie's TD-750 software for ProEase CASP models provides complete data logging for each battery serviced and maintains detailed records of every task performed. Data can be output in a variety of standard PC formats for permanent record retention. Other benefits include comprehensive online help and a user interface that emulates the CASP display and keyboard.
