In the gas turbine industry, the advent of vacuum melting technology in the early 1950s and subsequent development of cleaner, stronger alloys led to advanced, lightweight, highly efficient aerospace propulsion enginesthe foundation of modern military and commercial aviation. However, today, the disparity between engine development and traditional materials development limits the advancement of new engine technology, primarily driven by the risk associated with premature material insertion.
