Compact high-speed CNC profiler

SNK America's HPS-120B high-speed horizontal profiler.

SNK America, Inc. has developed a new 5-axis profiler, Model HPS-120B, specifically designed for simultaneous 5-axis machining/contouring of aluminum and aluminum alloy aircraft components. Because of its compact size, the system requires minimal floor space and features reduced foundation costs. Based on the company's HPS-4B horizontal profiler design, the HPS-120B delivers the same high accuracies typically found on vertical profilers.
The new system delivers good cutting performance and accuracy because of its innovative chip removal system. Because the table is in a vertical position during machining, hot chips immediately fall away from the work envelope, minimizing heat buildup and thermal distortion of the part. A high-efficiency chip conveyor removes the large quantities of chips from the work area.
A powerful 40-hp continuous spindle drive motor operating at speeds ranging from 150-12,000 rpm enables both fast stock removal and fine finish capability. The table mounting surface measures 48 x 120 in, with a load capacity of 11,025 lb. The amount of travel in the longitudinal direction is 124 in, vertical direction 52 in, and transverse direction 30 in. The spindle head can tilt +/-45° and rotate +/-270°.
