Part Adviser 3.0 features enhanced Web-based reporting.
|
Another company to integrate its manufacturing solutions with CAD software is Moldflow Corp. Its Part Adviser software, which is used to determine the manufacturability of injection-molded plastic parts during preliminary design, can be shared over networks through floating licenses and integrated with many different CAD solutions.
Part Adviser 3.0 provides advice to users when they position simulated plastics filling points (referred to as "gates") in thin sections of parts with major variations in wall thickness. For a given gate location, the software indicates the potential for sink marks and warpage. The release contains many new enhancements including a clipping plane to view hidden sections of the model, an X-Y-Z rotation axes display, measuring devices, CAD-like dimension awareness tools, and enhanced Web-based reports.
This latest release exports MFL files that can be brought into Dynamic Series Fusion for further analysis and optimization. Subsequently, Fusion results can be used by Moldflow Plastics Xpert at the injection-molding machine to ensure parts are produced better, faster, and cheaper.
With Part Adviser 3.0, users can even match the model manipulation mouse modes of a given CAD system to maximize proficiency. The stand-alone version of the software now automatically detects STL model units, quickly relaying the part's actual size. Part Adviser is fully integrated with CAD solutions from SDRC, Parametric Technology Corp., Unigraphics Solutions, Autodesk Inc., Dassault Systemes S.A., SolidWorks Corp., CoCreate Software, and Rand Technologies.
