Nomad makes comeback at Chevrolet

Chevrolet says its Nomad sport wagon concept recalls its 1950s' namesake while combining the performance and handling of a sport sedan with the access and flexibility of a sport-utility vehicle. Nomad is intended to be a driver's car, having a Chevy small-block V8 power, independent rear suspension, and shift-by-wire transmission.

The rear-wheel-drive Nomad features Venetian-blind-type slots that kick up and slide forward, exposing a 914 mm (36-in.) opening in the roof. The rear seats fold flat, the front passenger seat folds forward to allow additional storage for long cargo, and the rear tailgate folds down and slides away to allow even easier access and loading.
