On Semiconductor introduces two chips
Specially tailored for driver entertainment and body/chassis applications, On Semiconductor's CS9201 and CS9202 feature the company's NOCAP technology that eliminates the need for costly external capacitors that traditional regulators require for stability. The micropower low-dropout-voltage regulators are, according to the company, ideal for steady-state operating conditions. With an exclusive output stage designed into the chip, the proprietary technology offers a unique solution for typical external compensation issues and makes the ICs extremely stable under various line and loading conditions. Both products offer reverse voltage (-15 V) and short-circuit protection as well as thermal and input over-voltage shutdown. Packaged in eight-lead narrow-body small-outline ICs with internally fused leads, the regulators can simplify layout design and save expenses associated with external capacitors. The 5-Vout CS9201 and 3.3-Vout CS9202 have low quiescent current (typically 450 microamperes at 100-microampere loads), guarantee precise output to within +/-2%, deliver a full 100 milliamperes of current, withstand 74-V peak transients, and maintain 600 millivolt low-dropout voltage for 100-microampere loads. Both are specified for operation over a temperature range of -40 to +125^C. Patrick Ponticel |
