Ford concept integrates safety, telematics
The theme behind a new Ford Motor Co. Taurus concept car that uses information management as the taskmaster is integrated telematics and safety systems. "On current vehicles, telematics and safety tend to be separate. What we've done is merge the two together, creating Informed Freedom, or iFreedom, that enables the freedom to drive and enjoy your life and be informed of threats on the road when the situation arises," said Ron Miller, Staff Technical Specialist and Distributed Intelligence Project Leader at Ford's e-Technology Research Department.
