Global Concepts (Part 2)
Ford 24.7 family
-
The 24.7 pickup, a coupe, and a wagon serve as portals for around-the-clock interactive information tracking. Based on a stretched Ford Focus platform, the trio features Visteon Automotive Systems' telematics technologies with a voice-activated reconfigurable projected image display instrument panel, enabling access to e-mail, weather reports, navigation, and more. Much like a TV set, the high-definition projection screen could have contrast ratios for readability in any lighting condition. And, as with TV, the viewer can choose what to watch. Using voice commands, the driver can personalize the layout of gauges (speedometer, fuel, oil) as well as add visual readout of functions for e-mail, GPS navigation, the Internet, a compact disc player, radio, clock, or video phone. Cameras replace side mirrors, with images viewed on the instrument panel. The trio of concepts features headlamps and taillamps composed of white and red light emitting diode (LED) lamps. The 24.7 powerplant is the 2.0-L Zetec I-4 from the Ford Focus.
