The headliner from General Motors was the 2005 Buick LaCrosse. The impending demise of Regal and Century sedans opens the door for LaCrosse's entry as a new premium sedan. "Buick is now experiencing a rebirth," General Motors' President of North America Gary Cowger said at the debut of the new model. Buick cancels Regal production after the 2004 model year and the Century after the 2005 model year, but a reworked Regal/Century platform will carry the new LaCrosse.
