New York debuts
Performance was definitely in fashion at the New York International Auto Show this year, with a number of new entries from Cadillac's V, Chevrolet's SS, Chrysler's SRT, and Ford's SVT high-output performance divisions. But family vehicles made their presence felt, with Hyundai introducing its value-oriented Accent and Azera, Jeep moving up a size with its Grand Cherokee-based Commander, and Mercedes-Benz with its first U.S.-market people mover, the R-Class. Lexus added a little high-tech flavor with its first hybrid, the RX 400h.
