Molder OEM/Erie used an innovative combination of Centrex weather-able polymer and Texin thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) from Bayer Corp. in a two-shot process to create an exterior applique for the C pillar of the 2000 Neon from DaimlerChrysler. The part covers the space between the window run channel and the door frame. It provides a good appearance, reduces noise, deters water and dirt, and achieves at least a 160,000-km (100,000-mi) life span.
