Alloy for airbag sensors

Beryllium nickel and beryllium copper strip materials from Brush Wellman are used for the principal components of airbag sensors. Beryllium nickel is contained in the tensioner and band material in each Rolamite sensor, an electromechanical device that also uses beryllium copper contacts. The sensor is not susceptible to interference from other sources such as radio waves or computer-generated transmissions.
