Thermal barrier

3M's Nextel thermal barriers are used to help NASCAR teams reduce heat transfer from engine, exhaust, and track surface into the driver's compartment. Originally developed for commercial aerospace, spacecraft, and industrial furnace applications, the barriers deliver flexibility and insulation performance at the high temperatures produced by NASCAR vehicles. The barriers are made from Nextel ceramic textiles, sewing threads, and braided sleevings.
