Head-impact protection

Safety Plastic, developed by The Oakwood Group, is designed as an energy absorber for head rails and pillars in automotive interiors. The company claims the product is less expensive and more effective than technologies such as rigid foam absorbers because, among other reasons, it allows for the thermoforming of commodity plastics. It is melt-recyclable and can be changed in stiffness without retooling.
