CMM has submicron capabilities

LK Metrology Systems Inc.'s Ultra CMM is capable of sub-micron accuracies. The unit is more compact, less costly to maintain, and priced lower than competitive high-accuracy CMMs with larger work envelopes. A typical application is to certify measurements of a series of shop floor CMMs that might be used, for example, on an automotive cylinder head or block line. Improvements to the system include larger air bearing ratios and beam cross sections; and ceramic Y and Z beams, or ways.
