Allison Transmission is planning a new family of automatic transmissions—the 1000, 2000, and 2400 Series. These transmissions, which are scheduled for regular production beginning in September 1999 for the 1000 Series and January 2000 for the 2000 and 2400 Series, are automatic, electronic 5-speed transmissions with overdrive and lockup. Limited production of the 1000 Series is scheduled to begin in June 1999. The transmissions are designed to bring increased functionality, reliability/durability, and shift quality to Class 3 through 7 commercial truck applications. The entire product line offers fully automatic planetary transmissions equipped with helical gearing.
