Gear tooth sensor
Honeywell's Micro Switch Div. has developed a magnetoresistive gear tooth sensor that can be used for camshaft and crankshaft position sensing and transmission speed sensing. The sensor can detect movement of ferrous metal targets, both single and complementary. The 1.5M gear tooth sensor offers zero-speed performance and power-up recognition with a complementary target. The device will function from a 4.5 to 24 V dc power supply. Its output is digital, current sinking with an output amplitude that is independent of rpm. Operating temperature range is -40° to +150°C.
