Alternative Gases, LP has signed an agreement with Quaker State Corp., which will serve as distributor of the EPA-accepted CFC-12 alternative, Free Zone RB-276 refrigerant. Free Zone is an environmentally safe R-12 alternative refrigerant that is nonflammable, nontoxic, and CFC-free. Testing has shown that the product provides cooling equivalent to R-12. Because of its chemical makeup, it is simpler than other alternatives to install. It does not require special barrier hoses, flushing of the air conditioning system, or additional lubricants.
