VDO North America's Integrated Driver Information System (IDIS) has established a new approach to providing information to the driver and fleet manager. While it has been many years since engine management and diagnostics were integrated into a centralized black box under the hood, inside the cabin separate electronic systems (e.g. navigation and routing, instrumentation, mobile telephones) have continued to evolve, with each system becoming increasing complex. VDO's IDIS unites all display and communication functions into a single, central unit. A graphical screen provides the driver with a single interface to access the vehicle's information systems, communication systems, recording systems, and control and monitoring systems. The way in which information is accessed and displayed can be custom-configured.
