STAFF ENGINEER - HEAT TREAT

POSITION SUMMARY

Manage assigned industry managed programs for task groups; develop useful standards and state of the art consensus qualification procedures; scheduling pilot audits of suppliers using available and contracted resources; publish audit/survey reports working through committee structure and due process in order to serve industry, government and society; identify gaps/problems and report to appropriate management.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Manage technical audit report generation with strict confidentiality conducting technical audits; reviewing/updating audit reports; following up and closing on nonconformances and re-audits; providing technical summary reports to the assigned task group.
  • Manage effective closure of audit reports for timely issuance of certificates solving conformance issues, recommending process improvements, providing improvements/alerts for eAuditNet.
  • Manage and supervise assigned personnel including support staff, consultants, technical auditors, etc..
  • Motivate and guide Industry Managed Committee activities in developing standards, manuals, and reviewing audit reports including planning; recruiting qualified technical volunteers; monitoring/managing results.
  • Manage budgets of assigned activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5 years experience in Quality Systems desired.
  • 5 years experience working with technical industry standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a Computer, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Technical knowledge of appropriate materials science/engineering disciplines/methods. (Heat Treatment)
  • Meet delegation criteria.
  • 5 years experience working in related industry.

JOB TITLE
ENGINEER & PART QUALIFICATION SPECIALIST - AEROSPACE

POSITION SUMMARY

This UK-based position, contracted to SAE International, is responsible for managing the business of enhancing the mobility industries' competitiveness through the various standards-related programs. Business activities include but are not limited to the development, management and marketing of aerospace standards, qualification/certification programs, referee materials, cooperative research and identifying markets for the same.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Effectively coordinating the Technical Standards Committee(s):
    • Function as the focal point for all committee activities by writing and issuing agendas and minutes, resolving problems, communicating information, answering inquiries, etc.
    • Facilitating and expediting the work of assigned committees by independently representing SAE ITC
  • Effectively managing the development of the SAE ITC aerospace standards, products and services.
  • Provide management and oversight of the program's Part Qualification Program.
  • Motivating and guiding volunteer leadership involved in the aerospace standards activities in an effective manner.
  • Developing industry standards development services in new technical areas by exploring opportunities in expanding and emerging technologies.
  • Contributing to the achievement of SAE ITC's organizational goals.
  • Additional projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • HND/HNC or degree in Engineering and at least seven years related technical experience, or equivalent, required
  • Understanding of Configuration Management and Configuration Control Processes
  • Experience in a supervisory position preferred
  • Experience working in or with the aerospace industry, preferred
  • Non-profit association experience, preferable
  • Experience in dealing with people (i.e., supervision, consulting, sales)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong motivational skills
  • Broad knowledge of the aerospace-related technical issues, including design and manufacture
  • Comprehensive understanding of the aerospace industry
  • Understanding of the principles of association management, and industry standards development process and organizations, desired
  • Excellent program and people management skills
  • Some budgetary experience desired
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs desired
