Mazen Hammoud, Manager Powertrain Calibration, Ford Motor Company

Dr. Mazen Hammoud is Ford's Powertrain Calibration Manager for global gasoline powerpacks including the V6 and I4 EcoBoost applications. He leads the attributes of drivability, performance, emissions, OBD, and fuel economy on new programs across passenger cars, crossover SUVs, and pickup trucks. Mazen's focus is on sustainability and customer satisfaction while maximizing commonality and reuse. Mazen joined Ford Research in 1998 to lead camless engine development. He was nominated for the Ford Product Development Leadership Program in 2002 where he held positions in manufacturing and chassis system design. In 2004, he was appointed Powertrain Controls Hardware Manager until he moved to his current position in Powertrain Calibration in April 2006. Prior to joining Ford, Mazen spent 8 years at General Motors leading the small block V8 engine combustion system development and was awarded the GM Ph.D. fellowship. He taught heat transfer and fluid mechanics as part time Mechanical Engineering faculty at Lawrence Technological University in 1997-98. Mazen has been an active member of SAE since 1991. He is an SAE Fellow and has served on the SAE International Board of Directors from 2007 to 2009 and as SAE Detroit Section Chairman in 2004 and 2005. Dr. Hammoud holds a BS (WSU, 91), MS (UM Dearborn, 93), and Ph.D. (UofM, 96) in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Organizational Behavior from the University of Michigan (2000). He is the author of several technical papers and international patents.
