Powering Possibilities Through Mobility History

Auto Week The SAE Mobility History Committee will be presenting a Technical Session entitled, "Powering Possibilities Through Mobility History" at the SAE World Congress in Detroit and also providing a display of historic vehicles in the show hall.

Presentations are scheduled for Tuesday, April 12, from 1:00 pm to 4:20 pm in Room 413B of Cobo Hall.

Six forty minute presentations include: The big three search for small economy cars in the 1930s, The history of GM's fuels and lubricants research, Two- stroke-cycle engine development in the 1980-1990s, Italian GP500 4-stroke motorcycles, The history of amphibious vehicles and The history of automatic transmissions.

Car The MHC Display Area will show an amphibious vehicle, an early motorcycle and an historic automatic transmission. A 1915 Ford Model T, courtesy of the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA), will also be on display.

Ford Model T In addition to the afternoon technical session. the MHC is also hosting a talk by Mark Gessler, President of the HVA, at the MHC Display Area on Tuesday, April 11 at 11:00 am. He will give a description of HVA activities and describe the recent historic 3500-mile trip made in the Ford Model T on display, which commemorated one which Edsel Ford took across the Country in 1915. All SAE Congress Attendees are invited to attend both events.
