ADAS to Automated Driving Symposium 2020 Transitioning to Virtual Event

Due to concerns around the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, SAE International has made the responsible decision to transition the ADAS to Automated Driving Symposium to a virtual event and cancel the in-person event, originally scheduled for September 1-2, 2020, Troy, Michigan. Additional information on the virtual event will be made available in the coming weeks.

Before making this decision, we extensively monitored and evaluated health directives from governmental and international health authorities, government- and corporate-imposed travel restrictions, and distancing and gathering directives and recommendations. Our decision to transition to a virtual event aligns with our commitment to prioritizing the health and safety of our speakers, customers, partners and staff who attend our events, while continuing to share mobility knowledge in a digital platform. We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation has caused.

Please see our Frequently Asked Questions for additional information.

The Symposium has been developed to bring the OEMs and the entire supply chain together to present the current state of the industry and to discuss the promise of current systems and address their shortcomings. Presentations are focused around the current state of the OEM strategies and development on active safety systems along with technology solutions in development by the tier supplier community for near and long-term solutions of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS). It is also designed to share with industry the various regulatory activities and expectations by the government. Lastly, it will address the legal ramifications of moving from driver controlled to ADAS to fully autonomous vehicles.

The Automated portion of the agenda offers the automotive industry a forum to understand technology trends and new innovations, hear global regulatory goals and objectives, and learn best implementation practices from OEMs in an effort to satisfy consumer expectations, especially those in the younger generations, and enhance the quality of life of all generations.
