Technical TourJoin your colleagues on a technical tour of the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility and National Transportation Research Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory on the first day of the event (March 14). Transportation is provided to the tour facilities and back to the event hotel for the evening networking reception. A small additional fee is required to join the tour. Register for the event and the tour by March 1, 2017 to participate in the tour. Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF):
Experience 3D printing capabilities at ORNL's Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) including Polymer Systems and Big Area Additive Manufacturing (BAAM) and learn about the advances in printing rates and the use of less expensive "feed stock" materials. PLUS: materials research including desktop 3-D printing and MDF's involvement in STEM and FIRST Robotics, large and small scale metals capabilities, and the Composites Laboratory. This aspect of the technical tour takes attendees through the US Department of Energy's only User Facility dedicated to transportation. Tour facilities focused on: Power electronics - learn about wireless charging technology and the world's first 3D printed inverter Advanced combustion, emissions controls, fuels and lubricants - see unique diagnostics and full vehicle dynamometers Vehicle systems integration - hear how rapid prototyping capabilities were used to create the powertrain for the printed Shelby Cobra Energy storage technologies - view new materials and manufacturing methods for next-generation batteries Networking Reception
A networking reception will be held in the hotel following the Technical Tour For security reasons, tour registrations will not be accepted after June 1 and will not be accepted on site. You must provide information on your country of residence and the issuing state of your current driver's license when registering for the tour.
