What is the value to the audience of this technology whether they are an engineer or supervisor?

  • Designers and mechanics can interface with the design in a mixed reality environment that brings together both a physical mock-up of the structural envelope and digital representation of geometric data set (e.g., structures, systems, parts, tools, etc.) via the head mounted display system.
  • Users will experience, in real-time, the complete design & build context. This supports rapid prototyping and iterative assessment of design concepts to ensure requirements are satisfied prior to design release.
  • VR's capability complements AR and provides full-body motion capture and physiologic performance data which feeds human modeling assessment tools already integrated into the native CAD environment.
  • Utilizing technology that gets design intent to the builders so they can build the product right the first time and every time.
  • These technologies help with cost, cycle time and critical path savings. This is a new technology that is being matured. The savings due to elimination of rework and ability to build the product right the first time, without waste of getting additional instructions, use in inspection / alignment and FOD prevention, could give an order of magnitude greater savings.
