The Ford immersive Vehicle Evaluation (FiVE) Lab in Product Development
Monday, November 12
1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Ford's immersive Environment Lab (FiVE) is a state-of-the-art facility that allows designers and engineers to fully experience a vehicle before it's built. FiVE uses three different immersive environments - the virtual space, a programmable vehicle model and a CAVE - to apply a variety of real-time, advanced visualization technologies that simulate a multitude of customer perspectives very early in the development process, thus allowing efficient, quick and effective evaluations of vehicle design proposals. In addition, as programs progress, engineers, ergonomists and designers can get immersed and walk around their virtual product in full scale, providing early assessments of craftsmanship, occupant ergonomics or potential perceived quality concerns. All of these simulations and technologies allow Ford to truly represent the manufacturability of a vehicle in the design, and respond to customer trends with new and exciting features.
The tour is limited to 45 attendees. Host company reserves the right to decline attendance. No photography or video allowed. Participants must wear closed toed shoes. Transportation will be provided. Bus leaves promptly at 1:30 pm.
