Orlando Carvalho Orlando Carvalho

Orlando Carvalho is Executive Vice President of Lockheed Martin's Aeronautics business area and an officer of Lockheed Martin Corp. He was appointed his current position by Lockheed Martin's Board of Directors in March 2013. In his 37 years with Lockheed Martin, Carvalho has held several integral leadership positions, including Executive Vice President and General Manager of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter program. In this role, he led the System Development and Demonstration program, aircraft production, flight testing, and global sustainment of the three F-35 variants for the United States, eight partner countries, and three foreign military sales customers. Previously, he served as Vice President and Deputy for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter program; President of Lockheed Martin Mission Systems & Sensors; and General Manager and Vice President of Surface-Sea Based Ballistic Missile Defense Systems. Carvalho serves on the Board of Directors for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and on the Board of Advisors for the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He was named National Management Association (NMA) Executive of the Year in 2015. Carvalho earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Fairfield University and a master's of business administration degree from the University of Maryland.

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Systems Engineering

Kristen J. Baldwin was appointed the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Engineering in January 2016 while continuing as Principal Deputy, SE. She is the principal systems engineering advisor to the Secretary of Defense and is responsible for establishing and executing engineering policy and oversight across the Department. Baldwin also serves as the acting Defense Standardization Executive. She oversees the DoD strategy for Trusted Systems Design. A member of the Senior Executive Service (SES), Baldwin leads modeling and simulation, system security engineering, program protection, system of systems engineering, and systems engineering research and development initiatives. She oversees the DoD Systems Engineering Research Center, a university-affiliated research center dedicated to advancing systems engineering methods, processes, and tools, and the MITRE National Security Engineering Center, a DoD federally funded research and development center. Baldwin was a recipient of the Meritorious Presidential Rank award in 2014, in recognition of exemplary service. She received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in systems management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

David Seymour David Seymour
Senior Vice President–Integrated Operations
American Airlines

As Senior Vice President–Integrated Operations, David Seymour has responsibility for all aspects of American’s integrated operations and technical operations. He oversees the Integrated Operations Center, where the airline’s daily operations are managed, crew resources and operations performance functions, as well as American’s flight and flight safety operations. He is also responsible for line and base maintenance, plus engineering, planning, and production support for airframes, engines, and components, as well as aircraft reliability, regulatory compliance, and aircraft supply chain operations. Seymour’s aviation career began at the airline in 1999 as Director–Materials. He was later promoted to Senior Director–Materials and Planning, which included oversight of all aircraft material requirements and the management of all repairs and vendors. From 2002 to 2008, he served as Vice President–Operations Control and Planning, overseeing the airline’s operations control center and crew resources and scheduling. He became Senior Vice President–Technical Operations in 2008, and was named Senior Vice President–Integrated Operations in April 2016. Seymour earned a master’s degree in marketing and transportation from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s in mathematical science of operations research from the U.S. Military Academy.
