AVL List GmbH Dr. Robert Fischer has held the EVP position since 2003. Prior to AVL, Fischer worked at LuK in the field of transmissions, specifically in the areas of software development, electronics, measuring techniques, and test fields. In 1995, he became a LuK Member of the Board, responsible for various innovative transmission developments (e.g. CVT, ASG, double-clutch transmission) and the buildup of the corresponding technical competence at various locations. Prior to LuK, Fischer worked at Mercedes, in Stuttgart, as a Group Leader for Clutch and Vibrations. He studied both mechanical engineering and economics at the Technical University Graz and later completed his dissertation at the University in 1988 under Prof. Rudolph Pischinger at the Institute of Internal Combustion Engine. Since 2010, he has been a lecturer at Technical University Graz and has more than 60 patent families, resulting in more than 300 single patents. He also has more than 60 publications including, “The Automotive Transmission Book,” published within the framework of the Helmut List series. In April 2015, Fischer received the SAE/Timken–Howard Simpson Automotive Transmission and Driveline Innovation Award, which honors outstanding global contributions to the technology progress and dissemination, in the area of automotive transmission and driveline.
