The SAE 2013 Counterfeit Parts Avoidance Symposium - South will provide an open technical forum for procurements professionals, including quality control/assurance professionals, supply chain managers, component engineers, and product support professionals, to identify methods to lower their organization’s risk to counterfeit parts, especially in the obsolescence process.
This symposium will provide an update to the available standards for counterfeit avoidance, including the state of the US DoD legislative activity, processes and techniques for supply chain management, and an overview of technologies available to reduce the organizations exposure to counterfeit parts. The program provides an opportunity to learn about the negative impact of counterfeit electronic parts and the processes to mitigate that impact on their business. This event provides a realistic viewpoint on the threat of counterfeit parts, and practical knowledge for combatting the problem, including the legal responsibilities and ramifications of non-compliance with standards and US legislation.
The event is organized by leaders of the SAE G-19 standards committee, which has produced the AS5553, AS6081, and AS6171 standards for counterfeit avoidance, and all present at this event, including Phil Zulueta, the G-19 Chair.
