Dr. Wolfgang Bernhart has been working in the automotive industry for 17 years. In 1993, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Karlsruhe's Institute of Production Science (thesis paper on Calculation In Parallel To Development). After serving as Key Account Director Daimler at COVISINT in Amsterdam, he managed the European automotive activities at Arthur D. Little between 2003 to 2006. He has been Partner at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants GmbH since 2007.
He consults German and international companies on topics ranging from operating processes and organizational issues to global strategic realignment. He is a specialist on development and technology topics. Wolfgang Bernhart has clients in Germany, France, Italy, Russia, the US, China, etc.
Dr. Bernhart has written various articles and lectured on various hot topics, e.g. new powertrain concepts (incl. electric and hybrid vehicles) CO2/consumption reduction, low-cost business models and challenges and opportunities in emerging markets (esp. Russia and China).

Jack Lifton is a Founding Principal of Technology Metals Research, LLC. He is also a consultant, author, and lecturer on the market fundamentals of the technology metals, the term that he coined to describe those strategic rare metals whose electronic properties make our technological society possible. These include the rare earths, lithium and most of the rare metals.
Educated as a physical chemist, specializing in high-temperature metallurgy, Jack was first a researcher before becoming both a marketing and manufacturing executive. Finally, he became a metal trader specializing in the field of technology metals and of rare metals.
Today, after 48 years of industry involvement, he advises both OEM high tech industry and the global institutional-investment community, on the natural resource issues that impact either a proposed business model or a high-volume manufacturing plan for the mass market.
His work today is principally as a due-diligence consultant for institutional investors, looking into opportunities where rare and technology metals availability are a factor in determining the probability of commercial success of a metals-related venture.
Jack is a Senior Fellow of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security.
IEEE Head of Electrical Machines and Drives Research Group Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering University of Sheffield
Professor Z. Q. Zhu is Fellow of IEEE, USA, Head of the Electrical Machines and Drives Research Group at the University of Sheffield, UK, which has ~90 personnel and is one the largest research groups specialising on brushless permanent magnet machines and applications.
He received the B.Eng. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1982 and 1984, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Sheffield, Sheffield, U.K., in 1991.
Since 1988 he has been working at the University of Sheffield, and since 2000 he has been a Professor of Electrical Machines and Control Systems with the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Sheffield, UK. His current major research interests include design and control of permanent magnet brushless machines and drives, for applications ranging from automotive to renewable energy market sectors, on which he has published ~550 journal and conference papers, including ~150 IEEE Transactions/IET Proceedings papers.

Mr Saxon is President & CEO of Tasman Metals Ltd, a rare earths mining firm which he founded with his management team in 2009. Mr. Saxon brings 20 years of experience in all facets of resource discovery and development. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1991 with a First Class Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology. In 2006, Mr Saxon achieved a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment through the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Prior to joining Tasman Metals, he consulted to Canadian mineral exploration companies undertaking acquisition and development of resource projects, and was employed by a major Australian mining company in a senior technical role. Mr Saxon brings extensive technical and corporate expertise though his experience operating in Europe, Australia and South America.
Mr Saxon is a founding Director of Mawson Resources Ltd (MAW:TSX) and Flinders Resources Ltd (TSX.v:FDR), both companies involved in the exploration and development of mining assets in Scandinavia. He is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.

Jay W. Schultz received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1999. He has spent his career at Parker Hannifin holding various positions in engineering, sales, business development and product management. In his current role, Mr. Schultz is responsible for bringing Parker's electric machines to market, defining new product platforms and directing product engineering. He also defines key business development initiatives to increase Parker Hannifin's brand in the EV/HEV market. Jay, his wife and twin boys live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He is responsible for a wide range of research and development work for e-traction components and systems in automotive applications with many publications.

Rainer Aits leads as the CEO of the P3 automotive GmbH and Executive Board Member of P3 North America, and has been active in both roles since 2009. Within the P3 Group, Rainer is responsible for the global automotive practice. He is an expert for Manufacturing Excellence, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Production Strategy for passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles.
In prior positions, Rainer gained experience for many years in international consulting with leading OEMs and suppliers in the automotive industry. Rainer frequently presents on topics of globalization, emerging technologies and manufacturing strategies. He has written articles and given speeches on e-mobility trends and manufacturing topics as well.
Rainer began his career at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation -IPA- in Stuttgart. He studied with emphasis on manufacturing, logistics optimization and change management projects in the SME sector.
After completing his manufacturing engineering studies at the University of Applied Sciences Wilhelmshaven, Rainer continued his education in business skills through MBE graduate studies in Germany, USA and Japan.

Mircea Popescu received the Doctor of Science in electrical engineering from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.
He has more than 25 years experience in electrical motor design and analysis. He worked for Research Institute for Electrical Machines, Bucharest, Romania, Helsinki University of Technology, Finland and University of Glasgow, U.K.
Since 2008, he is with Motor Design Ltd., Ellesmere, U.K. as Engineering Manager. Dr Popescu published over 100 papers in conferences and peer reviewed journals.
He is the recipient of the first prize, best paper award from IEEE IAS EMC in 2002, 2006, 2008.
He acts as Technical Vice-Chair for IEEE ECCE (Energy Conversion Congress and Exhibition) event and he is currently the Vice-Chair of IEEE IAS Electrical Machines Committee.
Christian Pronovost, ing.
Product Strategy Manager
Christian Pronovost received a B.S. degree from École Polytechnique de Montréal in Canada in 1992. Mr. Pronovost has been with TM4 since 1998 as senior electrical engineer. He has been involved in the design of the core technology of current motors and inverters for automotive electric powertrain technologies. He is currently working as Product Strategy Manager for TM4's product line; he is acting as lead product engineer defining market needs and innovative solutions.
