Paul Meyer currently leads the new product development of drivetrains and hydraulic components for John Deere tractors globally. In addition, he has responsibilities for strategy development, future product plans, and advanced product development. Paul has more than 33 years of product engineering and management experience at John Deere. He has worked in both the Tractor Division and Consumer Products Division in product engineering, quality engineering, supply management, and manufacturing positions. He graduated from the University of Missouri with an agricultural engineering degree.

Rob Smithson Rob Smithson
Vice President, Powertrain Innovations Engineering

Rob Smithson leads the formation, strategy development, advanced development, and product development of Dana's new Powertrain Innovations Engineering team, working closely with the advanced engineering and business unit engineering teams. He has more than 21 years of engineering and management experience in the automotive, aerospace, and robotics fields and holds more than 150 U.S. and international patents. Before joining Dana, Rob was CTO and Vice President of Business Development for Fallbrook Technologies; he was also co-founder of Fallbrook. He has been Group Leader of the Drivetrain Design & NVH Group for Southwest Research Institute and an adviser to several early-stage companies in the clean tech sector. He served as a Product Development Engineer for Ford Motor Co., Vice President of Robot Design and co-founder of ARM Automation Inc., and as a spaceflight hardware engineer for the McDonnell-Douglas Astronautics Co.

Project Manager

Simon May is currently a driveline off-highway Project Manager for Lubrizol, based in Hazelwood, U.K. He is responsible for liaising with OEMs in Europe on their future lubricant requirements, developing additives to meet these needs, and implementing these newly designed technologies into the marketplace. Simon graduated from Leeds University in 1992 with a master's degree in mechanical engineering, before joining David Brown Radicon Limited as a Gear Design Engineer. He joined Lubrizol as Mechanical Engineer in 1997, before moving into driveline fluid testing and then into his current role in 2009.

Dr.-Ing. Thierry Séguelong has been Global Market Manager on Fuel Additives & Systems with Solvay Rare Earths Systems in France since 2010. He has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry. After completing the High Physics and Chemistry Engineering School of Bordeaux (France) in 1984, Thierry received a Ph.D. in materials sciences in 1989. From 1989 to 2003, he worked as Project Manager in the field of materials sciences, fuel cells, and automotive emissions controls. From 2003 to 2010, he worked as a consultant in strategic markets and business developments for the automotive industry and renewable energies.

Magali Pudlarz Magali Pudlarz
OEM Account Manager

Magali Pudlarz works for Lubrizol, based in Paris, France. She is responsible for managing OEM accounts in the automotive, agriculture equipment, and machinery industries in France and Italy. Magali graduated with a master's degree in chemistry and chemical engineering from ESCOM in 2008 and first worked in the Lubrizol fuels department as a Project Manager before transitioning to her new role in 2011.

Christopher Laroo is an Environmental Protection Specialist for EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality. He has bachelor's degrees in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in chemistry from Eastern Michigan University. Christopher has worked at EPA in the Assessment and Standards Division for 13 years. His primary focus is on test procedure development for regulated and unregulated pollutants across all vehicle and engine platforms as well as technology evaluation in support of upcoming EPA rulemakings.

Robert Proctor is a Principal Engineer at Honda R&D Americas Inc., working in the Materials Research Division. He has been with Honda R&D for 24 years, and his areas of expertise include materials, fluids, and lubricant technologies. His primary focus is next-generation engine oil technology advancements with involvement and collaboration of both North America and Japan. Robert has a B.S. in chemical engineering from Ohio State University.

Martin Birze is the Regional Business Manager, Passenger Car Motor Oils for the Americas, at Lubrizol. During his 26 years at the company, he has held several sales, business, and management roles. Martin started his career in 1981 at Shell Canada after earning an honors B.Sc. in chemistry from the University of Waterloo, Canada.
