Dave BaxterDave Baxter is Executive Project Manager in the Corporate Strategy Office at the Toyota Technical Center (TTC), located in Saline, Michigan. TTC, Toyota's North American R&D center, is a division of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing, North America, Inc. (TEMA). Dave joined TTC in 1990 as Manager in Body Mechanical Parts, with responsibility for developing the organization and operations during TTC's expansion in Ann Arbor, Michigan, including facility construction, equipment procurement, staffing and operating procedures. In 1991, he was promoted to General Manager of Parts Engineering, where he was responsible for the testing and development of parts for Toyota's North American assembly operations and also for export to Japan. In 1995, he became General Manager of Engineering Design III, responsible for chassis and electrical design, to support primarily North American suppliers and Toyota's North American assembly operations. Since 1997, Dave has had a number of assignments within the engineering functions of the Technical Center, and has held his current position since 2013. Prior to joining TTC, Mr. Baxter worked for General Motors for 13 years in Body Engineering. Mr. Baxter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is an active SAE Member, serving on the Motor Vehicle Council, and is also on the Board of Directors of the Science & Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit.
