Takashi "Jay" Aoyama

Takashi 'Jay' Aoyama Takashi Aoyama is currently the Senior Technical Advisor of Aisin Technical Center of America (ATC-A), Aisin Seiki's first independent product development company outside of Japan. Aoyama guides the organization in its expanding role and responsibilities as the local Technical Center for the American marketplace.

Aoyama started his career at Aisin Seiki in Japan as an Engineer developing transmissions for truck and forklift applications. In 1986, he was named Manager of Engineering and Quality in Aisin World Corporation of America, establishing the framework of Aisin's business relationship with the Detroit 3 that has blossomed through today. After returning to Aisin Seiki in 1993, he was named to various positions of increasing responsibility in research, application engineering, test and evaluation, and quality. Aoyama rejoined Aisin's American operations in 2007 as the Vice President of the Technical Center for Aisin World Corporation of America. The Technical Center established itself as the separate company ATC-A in 2008, and he was promoted to its President and Board Member in 2010. He successfully led ATC-A's launch and rapid growth until April 2014.

Aoyama continues his involvement with FT Techno of America (FTTA) as the Senior Technical Advisor. FTTA is a Proving Ground in Fowlerville Michigan which provides test track facility rental and testing services to automotive manufacturers and suppliers.

Aoyama also is an active Board member of Japan Business Society of Detroit (JBSD), promoting cultural, business and networking opportunities between Japanese and American communities. He was Aisin's representative as a Board member for the SAE Foundation from 2011 to January 2014.

Aoyama is a graduate of Kanazawa University School of Mechanical Engineering in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
