Oak Ridge National Laboratory's National Transportation Research Center Technical Tour

Electric Vehicles The SAE 2016 Range Extenders for Electric Vehicles Symposium technology tour will feature the research and development facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's National Transportation Research Center. The tour will cover many technology areas of interest related to range extenders, including laboratories for power electronics and electric machinery; fuels, engines, and emissions; battery manufacturing; and additive manufacturing.

The National Transportation Research Center (NTRC) is located between ORNL's main campus and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus. Vehicles including a 3D-printed range extender mobile research platform will be on display. As a user facility, NTRC offers industry, academia, and other agencies the opportunity to access state-of-the-art technologies, equipment and instrumentation, and computational resources to advance transportation technologies. In addition to serving users, ORNL conducts approximately one-half of all its transportation research at NTRC. The nearly 200 ORNL employees based at NTRC work closely with government agencies, industry and universities through non-user facility partnerships including public-domain work for federal agencies, DOE-funded partnerships with industry, and proprietary contracts conducted on behalf of automotive companies and suppliers, large and small.

Foreign nationals must register by October 14.
