The 2008 Workshop on Open Problems and Challenges in Automotive Control will be held on April 18th at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The workshop will feature distinguished speakers from the automotive industry who will discuss salient automotive control problems currently confronting practitioners and researchers. The one day workshop will have ten presentations, with breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks included as a part of the program to encourage continuing discussions and networking. The topics covered will include active safety control technologies, collision prevention, fuel cells, engine technologies and advanced drive trains.

The workshop aims to provide an informal venue to discuss system/control challenges that are common between OEMS, to facilitate exchange of ideas between industry and academia and subsequent synergies in research efforts. The workshop is being held immediately after the SAE World Congress at the same hotel, and will thus benefit from the international and multi-disciplinary participation garnered by the SAE World Congress.
