Competition for the Transmission of the Future SymposiumSeptember 8-9, 2009 The Inn at Saint John's Northville, Michigan, USA
Finding ways of reducing emissions, improving fuel economy, and enhancing vehicle performance continue to be at the top of the list for todays automotive manufacturers. With all of the attention paid to engine technologies in the past, it is now time to expand the focus to other segments, specifically transmissions. With these increasingly complex systems, the time is right to provide the engineering community with a platform to highlight and discuss new technologies and emphasize distinct development approaches. Presentations from leading experts will highlight new transmissions, powertrain hybridization, challenges of torque vectoring and methods to further reduce friction and spin losses. Accordingly, sessions will address advanced transmission systems, new materials and fluids, overall system optimization, including cost reduction and the role of controls.
