Speed Mentoring Preparing Young Professionals for the Leadership Opportunities Ahead
John Calabrese - Retired VP Global Vehicle Engineering, General Motors
Wednesday, April 22
10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Room 142B

When today's leaders retire, millennials will be expected to become the leaders of tomorrow. Today Boomers (1946 - 1965) occupy 50% of the work force, while Gen X (1966-1980) and Millennials (1981 - 1995) occupy 15% and 35% respectfully. Studies show that an average of 10,000 Boomers retire daily, extending an opportunity for Generation Xers and Millennials to replenish those leadership gaps. With the Gen X workforce being 2/3's smaller than that of the Boomers, a large number of leadership positions will remain for Millennials to fill. Not only will Millennials be charged with entering these positions, but they will also be expected to do so at earlier points in their careers than has traditionally been required.

To be considered for these leadership positions, candidates must be innovative, consistent, and flexible while possessing integrity, vision and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Join us as we discuss these and other relevant topics with John Calabrese, retired VP Global Vehicle Engineering, General Motors.

During this session you will learn:
  • How to be a leader without the title
  • What you can do today to be prepared for tomorrow's opportunities
  • What executives' are expecting from future leaders
