The Programs
- 1990 - A World In Motion® was introduced as a supplemental curriculum to be used in grades 4-6
- 1996 - The Motorized Toy Car (Challenge 2) was introduced as a supplemental middle school curriculum
- 1998 - The Glider (Challenge 3) was introduced as a supplemental middle school curriculum
- 2000 - The Skimmer & JetToy (Challenge 1) were introduced as supplemental elementary school curriculum
- 2003 - Electricity & Electronics (Challenge 4) was introduced for use in elementary, middle, and high school
The Numbers
- A World In Motion® is utilized in all 50 states and in 10 of Canada's 13 provinces/territories.
- Over 60,000 AWIM kits have been shipped to schools since 1990.
- We estimate that more than 3.75 million students across North America have participated in AWIM programs.
- More than 15,000 volunteer engineers have been involved in AWIM programs.
The Funding
- The development of the Motorized Toy Car (Challenge 2) and the Glider (Challenge 3) was supported by a National Science Foundation grant
- AWIM receives support from corporations, foundations, SAE members and other SAE Foundation resources
