AWIM Introduces New Fuel Cell Challenge
The new AWIM Fuel Cell Challenge activity for middle school students was launched during a joint SAE/GM press conference at the North American International Auto Show's Education Day. During this activity, students are introduced to the development and use of fuel cells, types of fuel cells, and hands-on experiments with a PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell to produce electricity to power an electric motor.

The Fuel Cell activity, which is receiving support from the SAE Foundation, GM Foundation and other corporations, will play a key role in helping to introduce students to the fundamental skills necessary for a future career in science, technology and engineering.
