2006/2007 Digital Magazines Support

SAE Digital Magazines require Macromedia Flash (version 7.0 +), JavaScript, and the ability to download large files (up to 18 megabytes) in order to load and operate properly.

In addition, you must be a logged-in SAE member in order to access the Digital Magazines.

Possible issues:

  1. When I click on the magazine link (e.g. "Current Issue: May 2006"), nothing seems to happen.

JavaScript seems to have been disabled in your web browser. Activate it and try again.

  2. The window appears but nothing else seems to happen, or only a broken box appears in it.

You do not have Macromedia Flash (version 7.0 +) installed either on your computer or in the web browser you are using. You'll need to download and install it.

  3. The window appears along with a toolbar of buttons across the top, but the magazine is blank. Even after waiting a few minutes, nothing further seems to happen. There are three different possibilities:

    1. If you see "Attempting to Load: (a filename)" in the upper right corner:

Your browser's security is set too high, and Internet Explorer is blocking the loading of active X elements. Try reducing the settings, and if you're unable then try downloading and installing the Mozilla Firefox web browser. Then launch the browser and attempt to access the SAE Digital Magazines with it.

    2. In the upper right corner is the message: "Loading…", but nothing else seems to happen. Even after waiting for five minutes for a direct internet connection such as DSL, or up to thirty minutes for a dial up modem.
      Two possibilities:

The magazine data is being blocked from loading due to its large file size (up to 18 megabytes). Contact your network administrator about allowing for larger file downloads.

Your internet connection may have been cut off. Attempt to access other pages while this occurs.

    3. The messages in the upper right corner disappear but the magazine never appears in the blank area.
      Three possibilities:

Your browser's security is set too high, and Internet Explorer is blocking the loading of active X elements. Try reducing the settings, and if you're unable then try downloading and installing the Mozilla Firefox web browser. Then launch the browser and attempt to access the SAE Digital Magazines with it.

The magazine data is being blocked from loading due to its large file size (up to 18 megabytes). Contact your network administrator about allowing for larger file downloads.
To verify that this may be the problem, you can try downloading an empty magazine. If you can see the text "Test Worked," but cannot get an actual Digital Magazine to load, then the large file sizes are the culprit.

It has something to do with your current Macromedia Flash viewer. Download the latest version and try again.
