Experts on Tour - Patrick J. McNally
Functional Digital Aircraft
This presentation discusses the use of simulation tools to design complete aircraft systems in the computer, before committing a design to production. The presentation emphasizes the key processes that can be automated, the current limitations of the technology, examples from specific projects, and the future direction of the technology.
Virtual Prototyping in Aerospace
This presentation discusses the use of simulation tools for all aerospace systems, including aircraft, spacecraft, and launch vehicles. The presentation emphasizes the key processes that can be automated, the current limitations of the technology, examples from specific projects, and the future direction of the technology
Virtual Product Development
This presentation compares the use of simulation tools across major industries, based on the design issues that each industry is uniquely confronted with. Common elements of the design process across industries are discussed, and unique requirements of the automotive, aerospace, and electromechanical/electronic industries are presented.
Patrick McNally is responsible for all business development activities for the aerospace, automotive, rail, electromechanical, biomedical, and other major industries with MSC Software. With MSC Software, he has led the development of major virtual prototyping software tools to combine flexibility, controls, and hydraulic system models with multibody software models for complete aerospace systems. He has received recognition from NASA for his work at KMS Fusion, Inc. and Canopus Systems, Inc. as program manager for the Orbital Acceleration Research Experiment (OARE), a nano-g accelerometer and data processing package for the space shuttle and space station. He has received NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory recognition as fault protection engineer and system engineering team member on Project Galileo. Mr. McNally has a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is a Registered Profession Engineer in the state of California.
MSC Software is the leading provider of virtual product development tools, including Nastran, Patran, ADAMS, Marc, Dytran, EASY5 and many other engineering development tools. These tools are used extensively in leading aerospace, automotive, rail and other companies to develop complete simulation models of their products.
