This refers to the previous FAI part number or approved configuration, including revision level, to which a partial FAI is performed. An example of an approved configuration could be a part produced, prior to the requirements of this standard. (9102)

  1. The framework that defines the current boundaries of knowledge of the quality profession within the IAQG. It is set out as simple statements of knowledge that can be used and developed by user groups such as the educational establishment, training establishments, membership, and those organizations that need to define guidance or competencies for their quality professionals. NOTE: The IAQG's Body of Knowledge is revised and administered by the IAQG People Capability Strategy Stream which accepts requests for revision as and when they arise from user groups and other interested parties. 1. structured approach for identifying the best practices from industry and government, and comparing and adapting them to the organization's operations. Such an approach is aimed at identifying more efficient and effective processes for achieving intended results, and suggesting ambitious goals for program output, product/service quality, and process improvement. Benchmarking can also be a performance comparison of organizational business processes, hardware, software, or network components against an internal or external standard of recognized leaders or against each other. 1. A model where (1) the same kind of trial is repeated several times; (2) on each trial there are two possible outcomes, for example, conforming or nonconforming; (3) repeated trials (units of product) are independent; and (4) the
probability of each outcome remains the same for each trial. In a Bernoulli trials model, the probability of exactly k nonconforming units in n trials is given by:
    b(n,k;p)=(n/k) pk (1- p)n-k
    where:
b(n, k; p) is the probability of k nonconforming items in n trials
n is the fixed number of Bernoulli trials
k is the number of nonconforming units in n trials
p is the probability of a nonconforming unit and (1-p) is the probability of a conforming unit. This is called a binomial probability. [9013]
