Tough choices: HFO-1234yf vs. R-744

Despite a low global warming number of just four and excellent results in toxicity tests, HFO-1234yf draws objections from environmental groups and four German OE that prefer R-744. However, life-cycle analysis shows HFO-1234yf to be a better environmental choice than R-744.

Hyundai-Kia launches fourth diesel

Because of strict U.S. emission regulations, the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group will target Europe first when it starts production of the newest diesel powerplant R-Engine for passenger cars next year for first applications in new models of the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, Tucson, and Sonata.
