Alcan Extruded Products will supply SBS Transit, Singapore’s main public transport company, with its EcoRange body structure system, which includes aluminum extrusions, sheets, and joining elements, for 600 additional Scania city buses. The order means that, in total, 1100 Scania buses—around 50% of SBS Transit’s bus fleet—will use EcoRange solutions. The buses’ bodywork is built by Gemilang Coachworks in Malaysia, a partner of Alcan Extruded Products. Production and delivery of the buses are scheduled to take place until May 2010. EcoRange is suitable for all common chassis types, according to Alcan, and a range of vehicle types can be built with it, such as city buses with super low floor chassis, double-decker buses, and coaches. Other major cities with EcoRange buses include Hong Kong, Melbourne, St. Petersburg, London, and Zurich.
