The first aluminum diesel piston recently rolled off the line at Federal-Mogul Corp.’s 50:50 joint venture with Kamaz, a manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks in Russia. Located in Tatarstan, Russia, Federal-Mogul Naberezhnye Chelny will produce pistons, piston rings, and cylinder liners for Kamaz’s OE and OES (original equipment spares) products and serve the Russian and global automotive and aftermarket industries. The next phase, scheduled to start in 2010, will extend the JV’s product range to provide Euro 4-compliant components. The JV is anticipated to employ more than 250 people by 2011.
