Royal Adhesives and Sealants’ WS8031 lightweight manganese dioxide cured polysulfide aircraft sealant is the first sealant to be fully qualified to SAE International’s aerospace material AMS3281D type 3 Class B aircraft fuel tank sealant specification. The sealant is a low-density material that features a specific gravity of less than 1.05 and offers a 35% weight savings over traditional aerospace sealants, without sacrificing performance. The material provides resistance to aviation gasoline and jet fuel as well as to chemicals and petroleum products common to the aircraft industry. It is said to offer excellent flexibility and bond strength to most metal substrates such as aluminum, stainless steel, steel, advanced composites, and many coatings under extremes of temperature, weathering, and stress.
