Making its global debut on the Ford Focus Electric, Denso’s inline electric A/C compressor (e-compressor) is smaller, lighter, and quieter than previous generations, claims the company. Designed for EVs and hybrid vehicles, the slimmer, less bulky e-compressor allows for easier under-the-hood packaging, yet maintains the same cooling capacity as the previous generation while consuming less battery power. This helps extend the lithium-ion battery's range when the air-conditioning is running, claims Denso. The unit keeps the cabin cool as well as cools the vehicle's battery pack.
