"Softex," a new Toyota artificial leather, has both good breathability and reflects infrared rays, so it has significant cooling properties. First applications are on Prius V, where it also is used for the steering wheel instead of a natural leather wrap, and new RAV-4. Read full story
2013 ATS led GM's new approach to improving driver visibility

The Cadillac ATS development team used a new GM visibility evaluation technique involving "hedgehog" visualization to create a corporate Driver Visibility Calculator. Kia adds smartphone-based telematics to UVO infotainment system

Although German carmakers express concern over R-1234yf safety, others remain nominally committed. But work on AC6 blend (R-445A) continues, and R-744 (carbon dioxide as a refrigerant) is back in the picture.
