Boeing researchers develop ‘green’ sol-gel coatings
01-Jun-2010 18:18 GMT
A family of water-based sol-gel coatings from Boeing were developed to replace conventional finishing materials and processes. One formulation, Boegel-EPII, is a nonhazardous coating that can be applied to a range of substrates (aluminum, titanium, nickel, steel) using a variety of methods (dip, immersion, spin, brushing, spraying). Applications beyond adhesion promoter include corrosion control and conductive coatings.
